Miami Heat takes care of fans perfectly thanks to Microsoft’s technology

With the goal of helping fans have the perfect experience in the NBA 2019/20 season, Miami Heat has applied cloud technology called Microsoft’s Azure.

Through this technology, Miami Heat can analyze data related to the online activities of fans inside the game field, including purchase and sale history, thereby serving each audience in a manner more thoughtful.

Specifically, as soon as the gate to the stadium, entrance tickets automatically appear on the phone screen of the fans. Stepping inside the stadium, the fans will receive messages from vendors from food, clothing, and basketball accessories. In other words, your job is just to come and enjoy the game, the rest will be … Azure’s business.

Azure Technology helps Miami Heat to serve fans better through smartphones

The arrival of Microsoft’s Azure platform has also brought positive changes to the way Miami Miami’s stadium operates. By analyzing the time the fans comes to watch the match, the grocery store will re-adjust the time to prepare food, minimizing the excess or spoilage of food.

Meanwhile, Ms. Lisette Toirac Perdomo, Head of Miami Heat Data Platform Services, emphasized: “We want to understand our fans more. Therefore, Miami Heat is having bold ideas to “predict” the needs of fans to respond quickly and promptly. ”

To create a digital experience that is consistent with the fans, Miami Heat not only analyzes data related to food or goods sales, but also builds a “360 degree profile” for each fan, including aggregate their interactions in the gym as well as on applications and platforms such as Heat App, Heat.com, AAArena.com and MiamiHeatstore.com.

The use of the Azure platform also helps Miami Heat “detail” information about supporters through Adobe Analytics software. After that, the team will deploy the Adobe Campaign to contact directly with the fans, providing a great experience for each individual.

After witnessing the outstanding growth in ticket sales as well as saving a large amount of costs, Miami Heat is planning to support other teams in attracting and taking care of fans.

VAR at Premier League 2019/2020 season made 4 mistakes

The British professional arbitration board admitted that VAR made 4 mistakes in the first 12 rounds of the 2019/2020 season.

VAR Premier League made 4 mistakes that made MU benefited while Chelsea and Arsenal were disadvantaged.

Mr. Mike Riley, General Director of the British Professional Arbitration Board (PGMOL) had a meeting with representatives of clubs to assess the use of VAR in the first 12 rounds of the English Premier League this season. He acknowledged that of the 28 referees who changed their decision thanks to VAR intervention, four were “wrongly whistle-blown”.

Among the errors mentioned, there were three penalties for MU (against Norwich), Brighton (against Everton) and Watford (against Chelsea), PGMOL acknowledged that those collisions were not fouls. The remaining situation is Arsenal’s unrecognized goal against Crystal Palace, VAR caused the referee to penalize Calum Chambers.

The 2019/2020 season is the first season the Premier League uses VAR.

VAR’s singular errors remind fans that this is not exactly the right and wrong technology like Goal-line or Hawk-eye, calling “VAR technology” wrong. VAR is a team of referees who analyze multi-angle video footage to advise the referees to avoid making mistakes in key situations of the game (e.g. leading to a goal, penalty or red card).

“We are still far from reaching perfection and improving our way of doing things,” said Mike Riley. “The worst case scenario is when the referee on the pitch makes the right decision but VAR intervenes again leading to the wrong decision. There is still a lot we need to do to improve efficiency.”

The former Premier League referees said that not using the screen outside the boundary to allow the referee to personally watch the video did not seem to be a reasonable choice. PGMOL and the Premier League Organizing Committee will study more options to reduce the time of interrupting the match when VAR intervenes, and minimize errors.

Will technology replace humans in the future? (Part 2)

Prior to the advent of the internet and smartphones, it was hard to foresee the needs of the labor market with mobile app designers or social media experts, even content creators on youtube.

Sales of professional service robots – commonly used for non-industrial functions such as logistics, inspection and maintenance – reached 271,000 units in 2018, an increase of 61% compared to 2017, according to the International Robotics delegation.

Forrester Research Inc. predictions that automation will eliminate 10% of US jobs in 2019 but in return will increase 3% of jobs such as botmaster and UI designer.

A number of countries have begun to act to get their labor forces ready. A 2018 report by the Economic Intelligence Organization gave the highest scores to South Korea, Germany, Singapore, Japan and Canada for the upcoming wave of automation.

Of the 25 countries assessed, the United States was ranked 9th, behind only the United Kingdom. The United States is also near the middle of the top 20 countries with the most robots per worker.

The United States has 217 robots per 10,000 workers, much lower than Singapore’s 831. The robot density is 338 for Germany and 140 for China. The worldwide average is 99, according to the International Robot Federation.

History shows that worrying about machines that replace people is not necessary. AI and robots are considered the Fourth Industrial Revolution, after other major changes in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Each new wave of technology, new jobs have also appeared to balance the market. labor.

Technological progress has changed jobs in many fields, from agriculture and craft stores, to manufacturing and staff, to service and management professions. A World Economic Forum survey concluded that while 75 million jobs could be replaced, 133 million new jobs could appear, more in line with the division of labor among people, machines and algorithms.

Let’s see if technology will replace humans or create a more extraordinary generation in the future.
