The smartphone possesses a display with no grooves or holes, nor any mechanical structure. The selfie camera is hidden on the bottom of the screen, but it is still able to capture the light on the internal sensor, thereby capturing the image as a regular selfie camera.
OPPO revealed the display was made of a transparent material, the pixel structure was also redesigned so that light could penetrate. This screen area can still display and manipulate the touch as usual. But when the selfie feature is activated, the screen area becomes transparent.
However, at this event, OPPO only exhibited a prototype, and no actual product to experience. OPPO said it has just started studying this new technology since 2017 and officially embarked on a prototype prototype in May 2018. There is still a lot to do to launch a complete smartphone. good.
OPPO acknowledges that the quality of photos taken with a selfie camera hidden under the screen will be worse than usual. There are many effects that affect the image quality, such as the screen being blurred and the colors are not realistic. OPPO is researching more algorithms to handle and increase image quality.
OPPO did not say when the smartphone was officially launched and produced in large quantities. However, this is still a big technological step, showing that future smartphone designs can completely change and become really perfect.
